Capella University offers bachelor’s, master’s, doctoral and certificate programs for working adults who seek to maximize their personal and professional potential. Capella offers 1,690 online courses and 46 undergraduate and graduate degree programs in 144 specialized areas of study.


Capella was the inspiration of Stephen Shank, former CEO of Tonka Corp., who believed that many adults were underserved by traditional universities. Originally, the university offered online master’s and doctoral degrees in management, education and human services. Today, the school also offers degrees across a spectrum of fields. Capella’s more than 37,500 current learners include a diverse group of adults from all 50 states and 59 countries.


Capella University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission and is a member of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.


Capella University offers degrees at the undergraduate and graduate levels.

Students pursuing a bachelor’s degree can choose from online study in business, information technology, psychology and public safety. The school also offers an R.N.-BSN degree completion program.

Capella offers graduate degrees that include doctoral, Ed.S. and master’soptions in a variety of fields including psychology, business administration and education.
