American University Launches New Online Master’s Degree in International Relations

American University has announced the launch of an online Master of Arts in International Relations.

The new master’s degree will be offered through the School of International Service (SIS) and a partnership with education technology company 2U, Inc. It’s a two-year program in which students will participate in structured online debates or virtual presentations and weekly live class sessions in a virtual classroom.

Curriculum includes foundational courses in international studies, intercultural relations, global governance, and international economics. Students will also complete coursework in their pick of concentration – either sustainable international development or security and conflict resolution – as well as elective courses and a capstone project. Completion of the degree requires 36 credit hours.

Classes begin May 2013.

American University, based in Washington, D.C., is a private university offering undergraduate and graduate degrees in several different fields. The school is regionally accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools.
