Alumni Options Featured in College Rankings –

One college rankings system has decided to consider an overlooked opinion in factoring top schools: the opinion of the school’s alumni.

The Alumni Factor is a new college rankings system platform designed to evaluate colleges while factoring in assessments of their graduates. Available in print and online, Alumni Factor lists the top 177 U.S. colleges and universities.

Creators of Alumni Factor aimed to create a platform that will provide students and parents with a more objective look at each school.

“The right college comes down to fit,” Julie C. Lythcott-Haims, member of The Alumni Factor’s Advisory Board, said in a press release. “The Alumni Factor goes beyond simplistic rankings by giving students insight into what’s important to them and the ability to discern the campuses at which they will feel that all-important sense of belonging.”

The Alumni Factor’s top 10 schools in order are:

  • Washington & Lee University
  • Yale University
  • Princeton University
  • Rice University
  • College of Holy Cross
  • University of Notre Dame
  • Middlebury College
  • United States Naval Academy
  • United States Military Academy
  • Stanford University

Rankings are based on online surveys and interviews with more than 42,000 alumni from over 450 schools in the last four years. Researchers measured 15 different factors, including income, net worth, job opportunities, intellectual development, and overall happiness.
