WGU-TX Experiences Rapid First Year Growth –

Established just one year ago, WGU-Texas–a not-for-profit online university created by the state of Texas through a partnership with Western Governors University–has reached an enrollment milestone of more than 3,000 students.

One reason for WGU-Texas’ 60% increase in enrollment is its Finish to Go Further program, which allows graduates of partnering Texas community colleges to apply for scholarships, have application fees waived, and receive a 5% tuition discount.

WGU-Texas does not receive ongoing state funding, and offers students online degree programs at about $3,000 per six-month term. The university offers more than 50 undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including several in the college of business.

Students can pursue bachelor’s degrees in business management, business-information technology management, business-human resource management, accounting, marketing management, as well as sales and sales management. Master’s degree programs include business administration, information technology management, and healthcare management.

WGU-Texas is competency-based, meaning students advance once they demonstrate competency in a course. The university grants degrees under accreditation of WGU. WGU is regionally accredited by the Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities and nationally accredited by the Distance Education and Training Commission.
